INVESTIGATION UNIT

Our investigation unit is responsible for conducting investigations iro cases of abuse, neglect, abandonment, orphanhood or other related social problems which place children at risk. This unit also receives cases directly from the courts, in whose jurisdiction we operate, as a result of clients approaching the courts directly.


ABOUT

The investigation unit specialises in conducting in-depth investigations in respect of allegations of neglect, abuse, orphan hood and abandonment. Referrals are received from the Intake Unit as well as through the court system in the form of an “Order to Investigate”.

Social workers, upon the completion of an investigation, will recommend appropriate placement options to the Presiding Officer of the Children’s Court eg: Foster care placements, placements in Child and Youth Care Centres or return to parent with conditions as stipulated within the court order.

• The unit opened 229 Children’s Court enquiries.
• The unit finalised 394 Children’s Court enquiries.
• The unit placed 468 children in Foster care.
• A total of 486 Court reports were submitted to the Children’s Court of which 177 were Form 38 reports
